The recruitment process for the position of Thai Airways International (THAI) CEO recently moved to the interview stage. Read More » There were six candidates shortlisted for interview from the eight applicants for the role, local media reported, citing comments from THAI chair and finance ministry permanent secretary, Lavaron Sangsnit. The six candidates, which include suspended THAI CEO, Chai Eamsiri, all comprised THAI executives. The media reports said there were two external applicants for the role. However, they did not progress due to their experience being assessed as not meeting the requirements set out in the job description to have managed an organisation with assets of at least 200 billion baht (US$6 billion) and annual revenues totalling at least 40 billion baht. The applications are being assessed by a seven-member committee of the THAI board, assisted by an external human resources consultancy. Chai was suspended from his CEO duties in early October following the operational disruptions experienced by the airline during the heavy flooding in Bangkok in late September. The media reports said the suspension was separate to his application for the CEO position.
