The new airport, which has been operational for freight services since July, handled three passenger flights on its opening day. All were from Jetstar - the inaugural service to Gold Coast, the return service from the Gold Coast and a departure to Melbourne Tullamarine. International services start today, with the commencement of Air New Zealand’s three times a week service from Auckland. "It brings the world closer to Western Sydney and opportunity closer to home, creating new meaningful jobs for generations to come." Jetstar group CEO, Stephanie Tully, said: "From today, for three million people who live in and around Western Sydney, low fares start a lot closer to home."
