China Southern’s Xi expelled from Communist Party

Si Xianmin, former deputy chairman of China Southern Airlines, has been expelled from the Communist Party of China (CPC) and removed from office for "severely violating political discipline, interfering with and hindering investigations," the ruling Communist Party's graft watchdog, the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI), said on Wednesday. Kumho Asiana Group, parent of Asiana Airlines, last Friday promoted the group’s heir-apparent and vice-president of Kumho Tire, Park Se-chang, as CEO.

The 40-year-old Park junior, the only son of group chairman, Park Sam-koo, will jointly lead the group’s strategic management unit with current CEO, Seo Jae-hwan, the conglomerate said in a press release.

Delta’s Anderson to retire

Delta Air Lines CEO, Richard Anderson, will retire on May 2, his 61st birthday. Anderson’s right-hand man, Delta president, Ed Bastian, will succeed Anderson the Atlanta-based carrier said Wednesday.

Glen Hauenstein, the airline's executive vice-president, will take over Bastian’s presidency and COO, Gil West, will be promoted from executive vice-president to senior executive president.
