Codeshares

Starting this week, Thai Airways International (THAI) will resume its codeshares with Air Canada when it adds its ‘TG’ code to Air Canada’s Montreal-/Toronto-Frankfurt, Vancouver-/Toronto-Hong Kong, Toronto-Heathrow, Toronto-Zurich and Vancouver-Narita services. Read More »

Manufacturers

MTU Aero Engines has completed the first development turbine centre frame (TCF) to go into the GE9X engine, the exclusive propulsion system for the B777X from 2020.

MRO

AAR has signed its first power-by-the-hour (PBH) contract in Asia with Japan’s Ibex Airlines, in support of the carrier’s Bombardier CRJ fleet. AAR will manage the supply chain from its CRJ components inventory through its global warehouse network, including the management of the component repair cycle at a fixed price.

Routes

Air France will cancel its daily Singapore-Jakarta B777-300ER service from March 27. British Airways will resume six-weekly Heathrow-Tehran B777-200ER services from July 14, with plans to go daily from October 30. EastarJet will launch a four-weekly Incheon-Taipei B737-800 route commencing March 28. It already operates a thrice-weekly Gimpo-Song Shan link. Emirates Airline will add capacity on the Dubai-Dusseldorf route from July 1 as it adds a second daily A380 to replace the B777-300ER. Jet Airways will add a third daily Mumbai-Bangkok B737 rotation from March 27, as well as a second daily Delhi-Bangkok B737 service beginning the same day. KLM will increase frequency on the Amsterdam-Kuala Lumpur B777-200ER route from daily to ten-weekly starting June 23. Philippine Airlines will gradually increase frequency on the Manila-Heathrow A340-300 route from five-weekly to six-weekly (June 4) to daily (June 28). Qantas Airways will add a fifth weekly frequency on the Sydney-Jakarta A330-200 route beginning June 18. Thai Airways International (THAI) will add a fourth weekly Bangkok-Malpensa/Milan B747-400 rotation from March 28. A day earlier, T’Way Airlines will launch a daily Incheon-Narita B737-800 service, and add a second daily Incheon-Kansai B737 rotation from the same day and a second daily flight to Fukuoka from May 13.
