ROUTES: Subject to regulatory approvals, Air Algerie plans to launch twice-weekly Algiers-Guangzhou A330-200 operations starting October 30. Austrian Airlines will axe its daily Vienna-Delhi B767-300ER route from April 4. Bangkok Airways has shelved plans for a thrice-weekly Chiang Mai-Luang Prabang route from late March. Read More » China Southern Airlines will resume four-weekly Guangzhou-Kathmandu A319 operations from June 14. EVA Air will boost capacity on the four-weekly Taipei-Vienna route as it replaces the A330-200 with the B777-300ER from October 3, and it will launch daily operations to Cebu from March (instead of four-weekly). Hong Kong Airlines will launch a daily Hong Kong-Okayama A320 service commencing March 28. Philippine Airlines will increase frequency on the Manila-Taipei A320/A321 route from six- to eight-weekly beginning March 27. Qantas Airways will convert its thrice-weekly Brisbane-Christchurch B737-800 seasonal to a year-round service starting June 18. Pakistani carrier Shaheen Air will launch a thrice-weekly Islamabad-Manchester A330-300 route from March 29. Thai AirAsia will launch a daily Hat Yai-Chiang Rai, and a daily Hat Yai-Johor Bharu A320 service, both from April 1.

CODESHARES: Malaysia Airlines Berhad (MAB) will place its ‘MH’ code on Emirates Airline’s services to Bahrain, Barcelona, Frankfurt, Geneva, Lyon, Madrid, Nice, Paris, Rome, Stockholm and Zurich starting March 1.

MANUFACTURERS: Montreal-based simulator manufacturer and training provider CAE is acquiring the commercial flight training unit of Lockheed Martin, it announced on Monday, without providing further details. Embraer is increasing the maximum take-off weight (MTOW) and wingspan of its E195-E2 jet to increase the model’s range by 450nms to 2,450nms. Rolls-Royce has reported a £1.1 billion 2015 profit, down from £1.2 billion in 2014; its civil aerospace unit earned £812 million, compared to £942 million the previous year, on 1.4% higher turnover, as it delivered 712 engines (-27).
