AIRLINES: Airbus and EgyptAir have confirmed that flight MS804 from Paris (CDG) to Cairo, operated by an IAE-powered A320 built in 2003, has gone missing, and is believed to have crashed into the Mediterranean approximately 175 miles off the Egyptian coast. Read More »

LESSORS: ALC has announced the placement of two B787-9s with Oman Air, with deliveries between 2018 and 2020. Last August, the Muscat-based carrier confirmed plans to lease 14 Boeing aircraft from ALC, comprising three B737-800s, seven B737-8MAXs, a B787-9, a used B737-700, as well as two used B737-800s.

MRO: Thai Lion Air, a subsidiary of Indonesia’s Lion Group, will invest 400 million baht ($11.2 million) in a training facility in Pathum Thani that will include aircraft maintenance training capabilities.

ROUTES: AirAsia X will launch a twelve-weekly A330-300 Kuala Lumpur-Madinah service from November 1, and a thrice-weekly Kuala Lumpur-Mauritius A330-300 route to Mauritius beginning October 4. Air India will launch a thrice-weekly Ahmedabad-Heathrow-Newark B787-8 route on August 15, while reducing Delhi-Heathrow operations from three to two daily rotations. Taiwan’s China Airlines (CAL) will increase frequency on the Taipei-Guam B737-800 route from four- to five-weekly starting July 2. China Eastern Airlines plans to add a twice-weekly Nanjing-Jeju A320 route starting June 20. Delta Air Lines will terminate its daily Los Angeles-Narita B777-200LR rotation from October 29. Hong Kong Airlines will add a daily Hong Kong-Auckland A330-200 route from November 10. IndiGo Airlines will launch a daily Kochi-Muscat A320 service from June 21. Jeju Air will launch a daily Incheon-Kota Kinabalu B737 service, and a daily Incheon-Sapporo B737 flight from July 20, respectively. Jet Airways will go double daily on the Delhi-Dammam and Mumbai-Dammam B737 routes from June 9, respectively. NokScoot will add a thrice-weekly Don Mueang-Chongqing B777-200ER route commencing June 8. VietJet Air has launched a twice-weekly Da Nang-Macau A320 service.
