China Southern confirms Wang as chairman

Guangzhou’s China Southern Airlines has appointed Wang Changshun, 58, as chairman, following Si Xianmin’s resignation in January amid corruption allegations. Read More »

Wang was also appointed the carrier's general manager and president of China Southern Air Holding Co. (CSAH) in March. CSAH is the state-owned parent of airline.

Wang is no stranger to the carrier. He served as president from 2000-04, after which he was elected China's transport ministry deputy head.


TransAsia president dies from heart attack

TransAsia Airways president, Chen Weichau, passed on Tuesday. The 62-year-old suffered from a heart attack, the carrier said.

The Taipei-based carrier’s chairman, Vincent Lin, offered his condolences, noting Chen had made great contributions to improving the carrier’s safety record since he took the presidency in October 2015.

TransAsia’s image was dealt a blow after two fatal ATR72 crashes in 2014 and 2015, respectively.
