Sichuan Airlines takes delivery of 9th A330, expects A350 in 2017

Sichuan Airlines last Thursday took delivery of its ninth A330-300 at its Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport base. Read More » This latest addition brings Sichuan Airlines' all-Airbus fleet to 113 aircraft, including 23 A319s, 48 A320s, 33 A321s and nine A330-300s.

The airline expects to take delivery of four leased A350-900s (three from AerCap and one from ALC) next year to launch a Chengdu-New York City route.

Sichuan Airlines has been keen to expand its long-haul network. It recently added new services to Los Angeles and Vancouver, alongside Prague, Moscow, Sydney and Melbourne.

Starting December 14, it will launch a twice-weekly Chengdu-Dubai A330 nonstop route, complementing its existing twice-weekly Chengdu-Yinchuan-Dubai triangular service.

Separately, flag carrier Air China last Friday launched a thrice-weekly Chengdu-Sydney A330-200 service, its fourth long-haul route from the capital of Sichuan following Frankfurt, Paris and Rome.
