CAAC approved 105 new international routes in last quarter

The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) approved 105 new international routes in the final quarter of 2016, according to a note posted on its website this week. Read More »

Services to the U.S. were once again the most sought after. Hainan Airlines was granted permission to launch routes from Changsha, Chengdu and Chongqing to New York as well as from Chengdu and Chongqing to Los Angeles. It also launched a twice-weekly Changsha-LA B787 route last January.

Sichuan Airlines was granted permits to fly to JFK/New York and Los Angeles from its Chengdu base. It also received clearance to serve new routes to Kathmandu and Kalibo.

Beijing Capital Airlines received approval for Hangzhou-Chengdu-Vienna, Qingdao-Moscow and Hangzhou-Wuhan-St Petersburg and Shanghai’s China Eastern Airlines for Wuhan-Sydney. China Southern Airlines was allotted traffic rights between Shenzhen and Brisbane and Shanghai- Chicago.
