ATR CEO, Christian Scherer, last month said negotiations between ATR and Tehran had been concluded successfully and the signing of a purchase agreement was imminent. Tehran last year agreed to buy 20 ATR72-600s, plus 20 options, for Iran Air but the deal has been held up because of uncertainty about some export licences.
In late December, Tehran finalized an Airbus 100-aircraft order for 38 A330s, 16 A350s and 46 A320 Family jets at $18-$20 billion at list prices, But Iran Air CEO, Farhad Parvaresh, has been quoted as saying the contract did not exceed $10 billion.
Iran Air received the first aircraft from that order, an A321, on January 12 and said it would accept delivery of its first A330-200, on February 23, followed by a second of the type on March 12. The A330 due next week was originally ordered and later cancelled by Avianca. Iran Air also has signed a contract for 80 Boeing jets.
