Read More » Boeing said the carrier also had committed to purchase rights for 30 more MAXs. Deliveries are scheduled from 2022. The U.S. Department of Commerce said a sale of this magnitude creates or sustains approximately 18,000 jobs in the U.S.

The Chicago-headquartered OEM negotiated the MoA with approvals from the U.S. government after it was determined that Iran had met its obligations under the nuclear accord signed between the two countries in 2015.

Aseman spokesman, Amir Reza Mostafavi, told The Associated Press the firms signed the deal on March 18 and the first aircraft would be delivered in 2019, which contradicted Boeing’s delivery schedule information.

In December, Iran Aseman said it had signed contracts for seven Airbus leases. Those aircraft are expected to begin arriving in May

At last year end, Boeing and flag carrier, Iran Air, announced an agreement 50 B737 MAX 8s, 15 B777-300ERs and 15 B777-9s, valued at $16.6 billion at list prices.

Airbus has sold 100 aircraft to Iran Air, with the first three delivered - two A330-200s and an A321ceo. The airplanes were destined for Avianca but the order was cancelled.
