China Southern Airlines received eight aircraft, including four A320neo, the most of any Mainland operator. Juneyao Airlines added six aircraft to its fleet and Xiamen Airlines, Shandong Airlines and China Eastern Airlines each received five aircraft. Six wide bodies, three A330s and three B787-9s, were delivered during the quarter.

Mainland carriers are looking at significant expansion this year, led by the state-controlled ‘Big Three’. China Southern intended to add 86 aircraft to its fleet during the year, followed by China Eastern (73) and Air China (56).

The second quarter kicked off with an A320ceo delivery to Sichuan Airlines on April 2, increasing the carrier’s all-Airbus fleet to 122 aircraft. Last week, Boeing delivered a B737-800 to China United Airlines, growing the airline’s all-Boeing fleet to 33 aircraft. Also last week, CDB Aviation announced the delivery of a tenth B737-800 to Shandong Airlines. The Jinan-headquartered carrier now has 102 B737NGs.
