China Airlines launches U.S. A350 flights

On Sunday, Taiwan’s China Airlines (CAL) launched its first A350-900 service to the U.S., Taipei-San Francisco. Read More » The twice-weekly XWB route will be increased to four a week from June 28. Combined with CAL’s existing daily Taipei-San Francisco B777-300ER service, frequency on the route will be increase to 11 flights a week in time for the peak northern summer season.

From August, CAL also will roster the A350 on the Taipei-Vancouver route. It code shares to North America with Delta Air Lines, Hawaiian Airlines, Virgin America and WestJet. The Taiwanese flag carrier, under the leadership of chairman, Ho Nuan-Hsuan, has ordered 14 A350s with six options. It operates 10 A350s and plans to have all 14 XWBs in service by 2018.

It launched its A350 services to Europe in January and now flies the aircraft daily nonstop from Taipei to Amsterdam and Vienna, a replacement of one-stop services via Bangkok.
