June 2nd 2017

Air Pohang said it would apply for its AOC in June and expects to perform its maiden revenue service before the end of the year.
Under South Korean law, airlines that operate sub-50-passenger planes only require paid-up capital of 1.5 billion won (US$1.3 million) and one aircraft.
Air Pohang said it would offer one-way domestic fares starting at 60,000 won (US$52). Once established, the start-up plans to expand its business scope to include charter flights to China, Japan and Russia.
Pohang is a smallish city of approximately 550,000 residents located some 370kms southeast of Seoul.
South Korea’s skies are getting more and more crowded. Six budget carriers are planning to launch this year, comprising K-Air, Fly Yangyang, Nambu Air, Air Daegu, Air Pohang and Prime Air. These will all have their bases South Korean provincial cities rather than the capital, Seoul, or secondary gateway, Busan.
