Skymark considering international destinations

Skymark Airlines, the carrier that almost went belly-up two years ago, is back. Read More » The full service airline is planning a network expansion beyond Japan, with several destinations in China and East Asia shortlisted, said Skymark president and representative director, Masahiko Ichie.
Skymark planned to relist, he said, and would like to launch an initial public offering in 2019 or 2020. In the meantime, Skymark has decided to add two or three B737-800s to its existing fleet of 26 B737s, but could opt for wide bodies in its re-fleeting plans, Ichie said. Skymark infamously cancelled an order for several A380s in 2015, which took the airline close to collapse. Minority owner, All Nippon Airways (ANA), and the Japanese government rescued the carrier.
