Airlines: Air China is expected to take delivery of its first B737 MAX 8 by next week. Read More » ANA HD has posted a record high profit during the first half of the financial year, with operating revenues up 11.3% to 985.0 billion yen, operating income up 28.5% to 115.0 billion yen and ordinary income up 35.1% to 112.7 billion yen compared to the same period last year. ANA HD’s net profit amounted to 118.3 billion yen, including “an exceptional income” from its Peach Aviation Limited subsidiary. Singapore Airlines this week launched new cabin first, business and economy products.

MRO: AFI KLM E&M and India’s IndiGo Airlines have signed a component support contract covering 30 ATR 72-600 aircraft, delivery of which is to begin in the near future. The array of services to be delivered by AFI KLM E&M includes repairs, dedicated pool access, provision of a Main Base Kit and logistics support. Boeing and SIA Engineering Company have signed a contract for customized solutions from the Boeing Global Fleet Care portfolio - Fleet Engineering Services - with Singapore Airlines Cargo, covering the airline’s entire fleet of B747-400 freighters. Taiwan’s China Airlines (CAL) has been approved and qualified as a supplier for MRO services and aircraft conversion services for Airbus aircraft. The carrier also has signed a multi-year Integrated Material Services contract with Airbus subsidiary, Satair Group, for its fleet of A330-300s and A350-900s.

Routes: AirAsia will launch daily Kuching-Shenzhen A320 flights from December 26. Air Seoul will launch a four-weekly Incheon-Kalibo A321 service on December 22 and it will add a second daily Incheon-Narita A321 rotation from the same date. Hainan Airlines has launched two routes to Laos – a twice-weekly Shenzhen-Vientiane and a twice-weekly Shenzhen Luang Prabang B737-800 service. Malindo Air will launch a four-weekly Subang-Hat Yai ATR 72 route and a four-weekly Penang-Hat Yai ATR 72 service, both from December 1. Qatar Airways will launch a four-weekly Doha-U-Tapao B787-8 rotation beginning January 28. T’Way Air will add two routes to Taiwan – a four-weekly Incheon-Kaohsiung B737-800 service from December 15 and a four-weekly Incheon-Taichung B737-800 flight from December 17. VietJet Air will launch two routes to Thailand in December – a four-weekly Ho Chi Minh City – Chiang Mai A320 flight on December 12, followed by a four-weekly Ho Chi Minh City – Phuket A320 service on December 15. Vietnam Airlines will replace the A330-200 with the B787-9 on the thrice-weekly Hanoi-Moscow route commencing March 27.
