Shanghai’s Juneyao Airlines firms B787 options

Privately controlled Juneyao Airlines has firmed its options on five B787-9s, adding to five previously confirmed Dreamliners. Read More » The first three B787s will be delivered to the Shanghai-headquartered carrier next year followed by three in 2019 and four in 2020.
Juneyao, Star Alliance’s first connecting partner, will launch long-haul flights to Australia, Europe and the U.S. with the wide bodies.
Last week, China’s OK Airways – the Mainland’s first privately-run carrier – finalised an order for five B787-9s, at list prices of US$1.4 billion.
The carrier, which first flew in 2005 and briefly shut down in December 2008 for a month, serves 70 domestic destinations and several cities in Asia with 26 B737s.
OK Airways signed a preliminary agreement to purchase the Dreamliners at the Paris Air Show in June. The Tianjin-based carrier also ordered eight B737MAX-10s and seven B737MAX-8s at the Paris show.
