Qatar Airways rosters A380 to Perth

From May 1, Qatar Airways will roster an A380 on its daily Doha-Perth route. Read More » The Qatari flag carrier will be the second airline to fly the very large aircraft to Western Australia, following Emirates Airline, which commenced Dubai-Perth with the A380 in 2015.

“We have seen continued demand and increased appetite for travel in the Western Australian market since we started flying this route in July 2012,” Qatar Airways said, and noted connections to Europe accounted for a large portion of the traffic from Australia.

The three-class A380, including a first class cabin, will replace a two-class B777-300ER on the Perth rotation, which represents a steep 44% capacity increase on the route.

Perth will be the third Australian A380 destination for Qatar Airways. The oneworld member already flies the 517-seat airplane to Melbourne and Sydney. It also serves Adelaide with the smaller A350-900.

Commencing February 13, Qatar Airways will add a daily Doha-Sydney-Canberra B777-300ER triangular route.Other Qatar Airways destination launches planned for 2018 include Rio de Janeiro, Santiago de Chile, Cardiff, U-Tapao, Thessaloniki, Penang and San Francisco.
