Scoot, the low-cost subsidiary of the Singapore Airlines Group, on Wednesday launched ticket sales for its Singapore-Berlin B787-8 nonstop route, to begin flying on June 20. Read More » The carrier will have a monopoly on the route and is the only Asian airline to serve the German capital nonstop.

The one-way all-inclusive economy fare starts at S$299 (US$220) while the business cabin is now on sale for S$899.

Scoot will fly to Berlin four times a week. The carrier’s B787-8s are configured with 21 recliner ScootBiz seats, 33 ScootInSilence seats (with an increased pitch of 34-36 inches) and 281 standard seats (31 inches). Berlin will be Scoot’s third long-haul destination after Athens and Honolulu.

“Scoot’s low-cost long-haul business model has finally taken off in the last six months with our flights to Athens and Honolulu. Both have lived up to our expectations and our guests tell us the 787 Dreamliner has been critical in convincing them to travel long-haul on low-cost. With Berlin, we continue on our mission to bring more choices for great value long-haul, low-cost travel to more travellers so they can escape the ordinary,” said Scoot CEO, Lee Lik Hsin.

Berlin marks the fourth destination for the SIA Group in Germany. Mainline SIA serves Dusseldorf, Frankfurt and Munich.

Scoot operates 24 A320 Family jets, 10 B787-8s and six B787-9s. It also has four B787s and 39 A320neo on order. The SIA Group remains ahead of the competition in this sector. In December, it announced that SIA and its regional subsidiary, SilkAir, will begin code sharing on flights operated by Scoot.

The arrangement will offer SIA and SilkAir customers access to more than 30 destinations that formerly were served exclusively by Scoot, including Athens, Amritsar, Harbin, Honolulu, Sapporo and Tianjin. Passengers can travel on single-ticket itineraries to all Scoot destinations with boarding passes and baggage tags issued to their final destinations at the first point of check-in.

Additionally, SIA and SilkAir customers will be offered Scoot’s FlyBagEat privileges of a checked baggage allowance, a complimentary meal and beverage and a blanket for flights longer than four hours.
