Tianjin Airlines, a HNA Group carrier, has applied for traffic rights between both Xian and Zhengzhou and Los Angeles, Aviation Week has reported. Read More » The airline has applied to the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) to serve both routes three times a week from December with A330 or A350 aircraft.

Zhengzhou-Los Angeles had been assigned to Sichuan Airlines, but the Chengdu-based carrier did not follow through on the proposed March 2017 route debut. Tianjin Airlines will hold monopolies on both routes if they are launched.

The airline’s long-haul network includes flights to London’s Gatwick Airport, Auckland, Melbourne, Sydney and Moscow and is geared primarily to Mainland tourists.

Tianjin Airlines has a fleet of 95 aircraft that includes A330-200s, A320s, E190s, E195s and ERJ-145s. It has said it would lease two A350-900s for 12-year terms from Avolon, also an HNA Group subsidiary.
