Far Eastern Transport to add 11 B737 MAX 8s to fleet

Taiwanese regional carrier, Far Eastern Air Transport (FAT), will take delivery of eleven B737 MAX 8s from 2019 to 2023, with the aircraft sourced from various lessors. Read More »

At the signing ceremony in Taipei, FAT general manager, Li Cheng Zhong, said the first two MAXs would join the airline’s fleet in November and December next year, respectively, followed by delivery of two MAXs a year to 2023.

The MAX announcement is a great leap forward for FAT that will replace its five MD-82s and three MD-83s. The full-service carrier also operates two ATR72-600s and hopes to expand the turboprop fleet to nine -600s by 2023.

Taipei Songshan-based FAT offers scheduled flights to six Taiwanese domestic destinations, eight destinations in China, four ports of call in Japan, Cebu and Jeju. FAT is one of Asia’s oldest airlines, founded in 1957.
