Australia’s Qantas Airways is making a number of adjustments across its international network in response to demand and to better utilise its fleet. Read More »

The oneworld member will increase flights from Sydney to Manila (six-weekly to daily; October 28), Osaka (thrice- to four-weekly from December 7) and San Francisco (six-weekly to daily; December 17), while reducing frequencies to Beijing (daily to five-weekly; October 28) and Dallas (daily to six-weekly; February 4).

From December 3, Qantas’ last remaining B747 services operating from Sydney and Melbourne to Los Angeles will be replaced by a combination of A380 and B787-9 Dreamliner aircraft. The airline will also deploy A380s on additional twice-weekly Sydney-Los Angeles seasonal flights during the December-January peak.

From December 7 through to Easter, Qantas will upgrade its five-weekly Sydney-Honolulu service from the A330-300 to the B747-400, introducing more than 300 additional seats and premium economy class to the route.

“The adjustments to our international network are part of our strategy of making the best use of our fleet and matching demand by having the right aircraft, on the right route, at the right time. We’re already seeing strong demand for the end of year holiday period on our services to Los Angeles and Osaka, so we expect the extra capacity to be well received,” Qantas said.
