Cho Hyun-ah (Heather Cho) and Cho Hyun-min (Emily Cho) have resigned as senior vice-presidents from Korean Air. Read More »

First, their father, Korean Air chairman Cho Yang-ho, forced Emily Cho to give up her position in the airline after it emerged she assaulted an advertising executive by throwing a glass of water at her. Then, for good measure, he also fired Heather Cho once again from the company, four years after she made global headlines and spent five months in jail following the notorious “nut rage incident”.

Separately, the notorious sisters are currently being investigated for allegedly illegally smuggling luxury goods into Korea on Korean Air flights without paying import taxes.

The elder Cho said he would promote “professional” business managers to replace his daughters.

In the interim, Walter Cho, executive vice-president and only son of Cho Yang-ho, is assuming an increasingly larger role the Hanjin/Korean Air conglomerate. The younger Cho, 41, has been in charge of the carrier's passenger and cargo management, strategic planning and marketing, but earlier this year, he was given additional authority to oversee Korean Air’s catering and suppliers businesses.
