Aditya Ghosh quits IndiGo

In a stock exchange announcement, InterGlobe Aviation Ltd., the holding company of IndiGo Airlines, said Aditya Ghosh had resigned as a ‘whole time director’ and CEO of the airline, effective April 26. Read More » It added he would relinquish his position as IndiGo president from July 31. InterGlobe said IndiGo director and billionaire co-founder, Rahul Bhatia, would be interim CEO of the carrier.
In the same disclosure, InterGlobe said it had hired former United Airlines executive, Gregory Taylor, as a senior adviser and that he would report directly to Bhatia.
Ghosh has been leading IndiGo since the airline commenced operations more than a decade ago. He will work closely with Bhatia until the end of July to ensure a smooth transition to a new CEO, widely expected to be Taylor.
IndiGo carried close to 50 million passengers last year and has more than 160 Airbus and ATR aircraft in its fleet, including 24 A320neo. It has ordered another 440 planes. It expects to make its first wide body order this year, most likely A330neo, in preparation for its launch of long-haul low-cost flights from India to Hong Kong, Paris, Frankfurt, Birmingham, Manchester and London.
