Gulf Air accepts maiden A320neo

Gulf Air’s fleet renewal programme continues in full swing. Read More » Last weekend, the Bahraini flag carrier took delivery of its maiden A320neo, following a delivery flight from Toulouse to Manama.

Gulf Air has 12 A320neo and 17 of the larger A321neo on order. The airline will use the neo aircraft on its intra-Gulf network and routes to India and Europe. The Bahraini carrier has selected CFM International’s LEAP-1A for its A320neo Family fleet.

Gulf Air has also placed orders for ten B787-9 widebodies. The airline has taken delivery of three Dreamliners this year and is currently deploying them on double daily flights to London’s Heathrow Airport.

London is a key destination for our customers traveling for either business or leisure, and I am delighted to introduce our newest 787-9 Dreamliner double daily service on this route,” Gulf Air CEO, Krešimir Kučko, said at the launch event earlier this month. Gulf Air expects to receive all 29 A320neo Family and ten B787 Dreamliners by 2023.

The 39 jets will replace and expand the carrier’s current fleet comprising six A330-200s, 16 A320ceo and six A321ceo. Gulf Air’s network spans 49 cities in 26 countries. The airline hopes to carry approximately 10 million passengers this year.
