Air Astana accepts Embraer E2-Jet

Kazakh flag carrier, Air Astana, has taken delivery of the airline’s first Embraer E190-E2 jet, following a ferry flight from Sao Paulo to the carrier’s Astana base. Read More » The airline has ordered five E190-E2s, which will gradually replace its nine E190s used on the airline’s domestic and low-density regional flights.

Air Astana will increase its regional footprint with the A320neo Family. The carrier has accepted delivery of three A321neo and an A320neo, with eight and five additional jets, respectively, to join its fleet. The airline also has four A321neo long-range aircraft on order, which will replace its ageing B757 fleet on long-and-thin routes, including Almaty-Hong Kong and Astana-Frankfurt.

The carrier’s maiden E2 jet features a special snow leopard livery, aimed to draw attention to the threat of extinction the wild cat faces. The snow leopard is native to the mountain ranges of southern Kazakhstan.
