"We are very proud to announce NokScoot's inaugural service from Bangkok to Delhi on December 18,” said NokScoot CEO, Yodchai Sudhidhanakul. “This route marks our first ever service to South Asia and follows the launch of services to Tokyo Narita in June 2018 and Osaka Kansai in October 2018.”
"NokScoot believes these flights will appeal to both leisure and business travellers going to and from Delhi, which is the fourth most populous urban area in the world.
“Passengers on the new route can make easy connections from and to key domestic destinations around India. Following the launch of the New Delhi service, NokScoot plans to spread its wings in India with another destination in the first half of 2019."
NokScoot, a joint venture between Thailand’s Nok Air and Singapore’s Scoot, has flagged flights from Bangkok to South Korea for 2019, although the airline has not confirmed the destinations or frequency of the proposed services.
Last month, NokScoot announced it would increase frequency on Don Mueang-Osaka to six flights a week from February 2.
The additional flights are in response to strong demand on the route and are in line with the airline’s desire to provide more travel choices and convenience for passengers, NokScoot said at the time.
CEO Yodchai has said the LCC intended to increase frequency to Osaka to daily, starting “later next year once regulatory approval is secured”.
NokScoot has a fleet of five B777-200ERs, configured with 24 “premium” and 391 economy class seats. Its home base is Bangkok’s Don Mueang Airport, where it operates to Osaka, Tokyo, Taipei, Nanjing, Xian, Qingdao, Tianjin, Shenyang and soon New Delhi.
