FLIGHT TRACKING: Etihad Airways has adopted SITAONAIR AIRCOM flight tracker, which uses FlightAware data services, to meet the International Civil Aviation Organisation’s recommendations for flight tracking. June 1 this year is the global deadline for the introduction of 15-minute real time tracking for commercial aircraft worldwide.
LEASING: Air Lease Corporation (ALC) delivered a 787-9, powered by GEnx engines, to China Southern Airlines on April 1, the first of five of the type ALC will lease to the carrier from its order book with Boeing.
MRO: SIA Engineering Company Ltd (SIAEC) has signed a two-year comprehensive MRO and fleet management services agreement with Singapore Airlines that supersedes a partnership agreed three years ago. If an option to extend the contract for two years is triggered, the value of the deal to SIAEC is estimated at S$1.3 billion (US$958.4 million) to S$1.4 billion for the four years.
ROUTES: Medium to long haul LCC Scoot launched a three times a week A320 service between Singapore and Luang Prabang and Vientiane on April 2. The routes were transferred from SilkAir, Scoot’s sister airline and the regional wing of Singapore Airlines. The LCC flies to 67 destinations in 19 countries.
