Qantas Group’s senior leadership and ultimate succession planning are in the midst of change after the departure of Qantas International CEO Alison Webster, who resigned for unspecified reasons. Commentary has been little aside from unconfirmed rumours the rest of management was displeased International’s customer satisfaction was below management expectations.
Qantas is rotating two existing executives with effect from October 1. Qantas CFO Tino La Spina will replace Webster as Qantas International CEO. La Spina in turn will be replaced by Chief Customer Officer Vanessa Hudson. Qantas is conducting a search for someone to join the executrive team and fill Hudson’s Chief Customer job.
The October 1 start date is a relatively long lead time for executive appointments in the region. Narendra Kumar will remain as Acting Qantas International CEO. La Spina joined Qantas in 2006 while Hudson joined in 1994.
