LEASING: Chen Shuang has resigned as board chairman, executive chairman and chairman of the strategy committee of the China Aircraft Leasing Group. The new chairman is Dr. Zhao Wei (48).
MANUFACTURING: Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation has opened new U.S. headquarters at Renton, Washington State. The staff is focused on finalizing the development of the company’s regional jet program, a new jet that is proceeding through certification flight tests in Moses Lake in the U.S.
MRO: The Singapore AFI KLM E&M/Sabena Technics component solutions centre has won a flight hour contract for maintenance of 10 Maswings ATR72-500s fleet.Lufthansa Technik and Honeywell will increase their co-operation for the maintenance, repair and overhaul of A350 Asia-Pacific fleets. Lufthansa Technik will be the licensed component repair centre and provider for the 200 shipped Honeywell components on A350s in the region. The SIA Engineering Group has reported a 6.8% revenue decline for the 2018-2019 year, which was mainly due to a decline in airframe and fleet management revenue.
ROUTES: China Southern Airlines to commence three times a week 787-9 flights between Wuhan and New York. LCC IndiGo will increase Delhi-Kathmandu to twice a day from June 20 and three times a day on July 4.
Jeju Air inaugurated a daily Busan-Sapporo service on May 3. LCC Scoot will commence flying between Singapore and Changsha (June 20), Fuzhou (July 5), Kunming (June 25) and Wuhan (May 22). Three of four routés previously have been flown by full service SilkAir. Thai Airways International will resume Bangkok-Sendai, after a five-year hiatus, on October 29 with a three times a week schedule.
