Etihad Airways and Tourism Malaysia have established a partnership to attract European and Middle Eastern visitors to Malaysia via the airline’s Abu Dhabi hub, supporting the Visit Malaysia marketing campaign.
CODE-SHARES: Etihad Airways and Saudia intend to expand their one-year-old code-share to 11 more destinations in Asia and Europe. Subject to regulatory approvals, Saudia will place its code on Etihad flights to Amsterdam, Baku, Brussels, Dublin, Hong Kong, Kathmandu, Bangkok, Phuket, Nagoya, Tokyo and Seoul, subject to regulatory approvals.
LEASING: AviaAM Leasing has signed a long-term agreement to lease three A321s to Vietnam’s Bamboo Airways. Two of the single aisle aircraft were delivered at the end of October with the third A321 scheduled to arrive at the carrier this month. Etihad Airways and leading Gulf finance group, Emirates Islamic, have announced plans to launch a credit card in the region associated with the airline’s loyalty program, Etihad Guest.
MANUFACTURERS: Collins Aerospace Systems has signed a long-term nacelle MRO agreement with China Southern Airlines for the Mainland carrier’s 30 787s. Collins Aerospace, a unit of United Technologies Corp., will undertake the work at its facility in Tianjin, China.
ROUTES: Bamboo Airways has commenced daily services between Hanoi and Taipei with A321neo. Japan Airlines will commence Tokyo Narita – Vladivostok, subject to government approval on March 29, 2020, with a three times a week service. It also will launch daily Tokyo Narita-Bangalore and daily Tokyo Narita-San Francisco on the same date and resume Narita-Guam on July 1. In mid-December, Shenzhen Airlines will commence flying three times a week Shenzhen-Jeju and four times a week Shenzhen-Penang. Later this month, Vietnam Airlines will commence flying daily to Shenzhen from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. It also will launch flights by year-end between Cam Ranh/Nha Trang and Ordos, Wuxi, Yancheng and Yinchuan and Hanoi-Haikou.
