CODE-SHARES: Turkish Airlines has expanded its code-share with Malaysia Airlines to include the Malaysian carrier’s service to Australia and New Zealand. Full-service oneworld alliance member, Iberia, will commence a code-share with Spring Airlines on four domestic routes out of Shanghai.
MANUFACTURERS: Boeing Tianjin Composites has broken ground on a 20,000 metre expansion of its Mainland facility that will increase the complex to 83,700 square metres when completed in 2021. It is a joint venture project with China’s AVIC.
MRO AND COMPONENTS: AFI KLM E&M has secured Fiji Airways as a customer for component support of the South Pacific carrier’s A350s. ST Engineering’s MRO arm has signed a 15-year engine maintenance contract with Japan Airlines subsidiary, Japan Transocean Air.
ROUTES: Star Alliance carrier, All Nippon Airways, will fly daily from Tokyo Haneda to Ho Chi Minh City and Delhi from March 29, 2020. It also will change its service to Houston from Narita to Haneda and begin flying double daily between Haneda and Los Angeles. Other varied routes from March 29 will be daily Haneda-San Jose, Seattle and Washington Dulles.
Qingdao Airlines will fly Lanzhou – Da Lat once a week from December 7 and twice a week from December 18. Garuda Indonesia will commence domestic service, Jakarta-Makassar, with an A330-900neo. Turkish Airlines will launch daily A350-900XWB service to Manila from June 9. Juneyao Airlines will extend its European network to the UK with seven flights a week from Shanghai Pudong to Helsinki and onto Manchester. PAL Express will introduce Davao-Manado and Zamboanga-Kota Kinabalu, both three times a week. Shanghai Airlines will add its third route to Hungary, Chengdu-Budapest, three times a week from December 31. Air India will delay flying Mumbai – Hong Kong to March 2020. South African Airways has suspended Johannesburg-Hong Kong, which it operated four times a week.
