"The group’s operations were severely affected by the worldwide travel restrictions following the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak," PAL Holdings said in a regulatory filing to the Philippines Securities and Exchange Commission.
Taiwan's Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) has eased some restrictions on domestic flights as the country extended its run of no new domestically transmitted cases of COVID-19 to two months. While rules on wearing masks and undergoing temperature checks at airports before boarding remained in place, passengers would be allowed to remove their masks on the aircraft if social distancing measures could be maintained, it was reported this week.
The Boeing Company’s website has listed orders for a 747-8F freighter, two 777F freighters and six 767-300F freighters in May. The manufacturer also delivered four aircraft in the month: one P-8A Poseidon, two 777F and one 767-300F compared with 30 deliveries in May 2019.
Airbus said it delivered 24 aircraft last month – two A220-300s, 18 A320 family aircraft and four A350XWB family aircraft. The commitments compared with 81 deliveries a year ago. The air framer’s website reported no new orders in May.
GE Aviation is introducing a health application ID for the aviation industry to address COVID-19-associated concerns. The application focuses on screening workers for safe return their workplaces, screening passengers for responsible and safe aircraft occupancy and clearing objects on aircraft, as disinfected, to improve customer trust and confidence inflight.
HAECO Group’s wholly-owned U.S. subsidiary, HAECO Cabin Solutions, has launched three pre-certified devices to upgrade aircraft lavatories to hands-free operation. They are an electric foot controlled switch for flushing, an infra-red sensor-based waste paper basket and a refillable hand sanitiser that eliminates the need for sanitising wipes and paper towels.
