Shanghai’s China Eastern Airlines deep in the red from COVID-19

China Eastern Airlines (CEA) has flagged an annual net loss in the vicinity of 9.8 billion-12.5 billion yuan (US$1.5 billion-$1.9 billion) for the 12 months to December 31, 2020, due to the pandemic. Read More » "Although the company put in every effort to increase revenue and reduce costs due to the severe impact of COVID-19 the company’s operating results in 2020 were still significantly and adversely affected," CEA said in a regulatory filing to the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong on Friday. The company posted a net profit of 3.2 billion yuan in calendar 2019.
