Cargo turns in 2020 operating profit at Korean Air

Korean Air (KAL) today announced an operating profit for full-year 2020 of 238.3 billion won (US$219 million), with cargo providing a lifeline for the group. Read More » Cargo sales increased 66% for the year over 2019, KAL said, but added passenger sales declined 74% year-on-year. By increasing the operation rate of freighters and utilising idle passenger planes, KAL’s air cargo sales increased as demand for COVID-19 diagnostic kits and automobile parts expanded and some demand shifted from sea to air cargo, the airline said.
