Passenger load factor was 13.9% for the month compared with 13.3% in January 2021 and 53.1% a year earlier.

Cathay Pacific Group chief customer and commercial officer, Ronald Lam, said February was a "particularly challenging month" due to new quarantine requirements for Hong Kong-based air crew. He flagged more difficult times for March.

"We will continue to operate a skeleton passenger flight schedule until at least the end of this month," Lam told the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong. "We anticipate the average number of passengers carried each day in March will remain at below 600."
