Read More » The airports said in a joint statement the "Face Express" trial will allow passengers to register their facial image and then proceed through check-in, baggage drop, security checkpoint entrance and boarding without showing their passports and boarding passes. "Its introduction will expedite seamless boarding procedures and because most processing is touchless, it will reduce infection risks posed by person-to-person contact," the airports said. All Nippon Airways and Japan Airlines will participate in the Narita trial and all airlines operating international flights at Haneda will be involved.
Separately, Tokyo Narita reported passenger numbers declined 94.7%, to 151,934, in February, from 2.9 million 12 months ago.
