Capacity will increase to 27% of pre-COVID-19 levels by June predicts SIA Group

Singapore Airlines (SIA) said yesterday capacity across the airline company would reach about 27% of pre-COVID-19 levels by June "based on modest growth of the passenger network" in the coming months. Read More » "The recovery in international travel demand continued to remain depressed," SIA said in its March traffic report. "As vaccination programmes across the world gain momentum and the northern summer travel season commences, the group remains hopeful for a measured recovery in international air travel demand." SIA said Singapore Airlines will reinstate flights to Denpasar in May, and its LCC, Scoot, will reintroduce Macau in April, with Cebu, Clark, Kota Kinabalu and Kuala Lumpur to follow in May.
SIA carriers flew 100,100 passengers in March; a 47.9% improvement over 67,700 passengers in February. However, the March numbers were 90.9% below the 1.1 million passengers the airline group transported in the same month a year earlier. Capacity was down 56.3% year-on-year for the month.
