China Eastern recorded 304.7% spike in passengers flying within the Mainland in March

Down the road from Beijing, Shanghai’s China Eastern Airlines (CEA) said in its monthly traffic report, published yesterday, the pandemic was "still the greatest uncertainty affecting the recovery and development of the civil aviation industry", and noted the COVID-19 situation varied widely from country to country. "The company will continue to pay attention to the situation of COVID-19 worldwide, closely follow the changes in market demand and actively respond to the risks and challenges brought by COVID-19 to the production and operation."
CEA flew 8.6 million passengers on its domestic network in March, up 304.7% from 2.1 million in the same month in 2020. The figures were up 122%, from 3.9 million domestic passengers in February. Domestic passenger load factor was 73.9% for the month, compared with 62.7% in February and 58.6% in March last year. CEA introduced nine routes to its network last month. The fleet increased by two aircraft, with the addition of three A320neos offset by the retirement of an A320.
