Local media reports Cathay Pacific Group considering reduced 777-9 order

Cathay Pacific group was considering a reduction in its order for Boeing's in-development 777-9 from 21 aircraft to 10-15 aircraft, Hong Kong's South China Morning Post newspaper reported today, citing two unnamed sources briefed on the matter. Read More » In March, The oneworld alliance carrier said "advanced negotiations" with Boeing were taking place for deferral of 777-9 deliveries to preserve cash amid the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the business. The first of the 21 long-range wide-bodies on order were due to be delivered in the "2023 and beyond" timeframe, according to Cathay's calendar 2020 financial results published in March.
