ANA HOLDINGS INC, the parent company of All Nippon Airways (ANA), said yesterday it planned a target of net zero carbon emissions from aircraft operations in 2050 as part of its latest Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) goals. Read More » The latest set of goals was an increase over the company's previous pledge, in July 2020, to reduce CO2 emissions by 50% at 2050 compared with 2005 levels. "Sustainability and innovation are central components of our vision at ANA HD. We are excited about the opportunity to make meaningful change as we work to advance our ambitious ESG agenda," ANA HOLDINGS INC CEO, Shinya Katanozaka, said. The company also has set targets for 2030, including CO2 emissions from aircraft operations to be below or equal to 2019 levels and CO2 emissions from non-aircraft operations to be at least one third less than 2019 levels. Aircraft emission reductions would be achieved by increased use of sustainable aviation fuels, new technology aircraft featuring more fuel efficient engines, improved efficiency of aircraft operations and maintenance procedures and carbon credit trading, the group said.
