AerCap wins shareholder approval for GE leasing acquisition

Aircraft leasing company AerCap said overnight shareholders had approved the acquisition of GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS) at the company's annual general meeting in Dublin. In March, AerCap signed a definitive agreement to buy GECAS, with GE to receive 111.5 million newly issued AerCap shares, US$24 billion cash and US$1 billion of AerCap notes and/or cash. GECAS and AerCap are the two largest aircraft leasing companies in the world. Each of them has more than 1,000 aircraft either owned, managed or on order.
