Virgin Australia (VA) said it would add 700 more flights a week across its domestic network by October and hire 250 staff amid improving demand for air travel. Read More » The extra flights include five new routes and increased frequencies between the three largest cities on Australia's east coast – Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney. "Growing confidence in the community, thanks to the vaccination rollout and domestic borders staying largely open, means the time is right for us to bring back jobs and put more aircraft in the skies," VA CEO, Jayne Hrdlicka, said. “We are so pleased to have turned a corner from the worst of the pandemic and to soon welcome 250 new and highly skilled individuals into the Virgin Australia team." VA said new jobs ahead included pilots, baggage handlers and specialist IT and technical services staff.
