Read More » The Hong Kong-based carrier is one of the first airlines in Asia to set a timeline for reaching carbon neutrality. “The unprecedented pandemic has shaken the world and showed us ‘business as usual’ is not an option when dealing with an imminent global risk," Cathay Pacific CEO, Augustus Tang, said. "Climate change, potentially a much more disruptive crisis, calls for ramped up efforts." Cathay said the path to net zero carbon emissions would be focused on investing in sustainable aviation fuels, carbon offsets and a more efficient operation. “Our net zero pledge aligns with the requirements of the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and the Paris Agreement, and provides the focus we need in aligning our strategy – from fleet planning and carbon offsetting to more investment in Sustainable Aviation Fuel and the development of new technologies," Tang said.
