COVID-19 recovery “pretty robust” says Boeing Company CEO
June 4th 2021
The Boeing Company CEO and president, Dave Calhoun, has described the aviation industry's recovery from COVID-19 as "pretty robust" and above his expectations. Read More » "It’s more robust than I ever imagined when we started the evaluation of COVID and what it might mean," Calhoun told the Alliance Bernstein strategic decisions conference. He said China had returned to its former [domestic] traffic levels and the U.S. leisure market was "going gangbusters". That recovery would be "supply constrained" come the northern hemisphere summer, he forecast. "Between the rehiring and the rebuilding of their own networks and then the supply chains that support them in all the services and other areas, it’s going to feel supply constrained for a while. I think that will mean it’s a healthy recovery and that they [airlines] will return to former pricing levels sooner rather than later. That’s important to all the folks who care about return on capital and forward momentum," Calhoun said.
