IndiGo CEO, Ronojoy Dutta, is hopeful the "modest turnaround" in traffic in the last week of May and in early June will add momentum to the sector in the months ahead. Read More » He said new daily COVID-19 infections had declined and larger numbers of India’s citizens were being vaccinated. IndiGo had its best month since the onset of the pandemic in February, when bookings peaked at 80% of pre-COVID-19 levels. The recovery stalled after a national surge in daily infections in March and April. “The near-term outlook for international continues to be bleak and a meaningful recovery of international traffic will probably be pushed to the fourth quarter of 2022,” he said. He spoke to media and analysts after the airline reported a net loss of 58.1 billion rupees (US$797.6 million) for the 12 months to March 31, 2021.
