China Eastern Airlines publishes domestic passenger growth figures amid “great uncertainty”

China Eastern Airlines (CEA) said in its monthly traffic report it flew 9.3 million passengers on its domestic network last month, a 123.9% improvement over 4.1 million passengers flown in May last year. Read More » The numbers also were up 2.3% from 9.1 million in pre-COVID-19 May 2019. Domestic load factor was 76.4% in May compared with 65.5% in May 2020 and 83% in May 2019. "The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic still has an impact on the air transportation business of the company, especially on international and regional routes, the time span and severity of which has great uncertainty," CEA said.
