Hong Kong bans incoming passenger flights from Britain

In practice, this also means individuals who have stayed in the UK for more than two hours are to be prohibited from boarding passenger flights to Hong Kong, the HKSAR government said. In addition to the Delta strain, the HKSAR said imported cases of the L452R mutant strain of COVID-19 had been detected in passengers arriving in Hong Kong from the UK. Passenger flights from the UK to Hong Kong resumed in early May after the HKSAR government lifted restrictions on incoming arrivals from Britain and Ireland. The UK recorded 14,623 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, figures from the World Health Organisation (WHO) showed, up from about 1,100 new daily cases in mid-May.
