July 14th 2021

Read More » The OEM has been in detailed discussions with the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) about the verification methodology for 787 fuselages. As a result of the discussions, Boeing identified additional rework needed to be done on undelivered 787s. "Based on our assessment of the time required to complete this work, Boeing is reprioritising production resources for a few weeks to support the inspection and rework," the company said. "As that work is performed, the 787 production rate will temporarily be lower than five per month and will gradually return to that rate." Boeing expected to deliver half of the 787s in its inventory in 2021. Its customers have accepted 79 commercial aircraft in the second quarter of 2021, compared with 20 a year ago.
