Japan Airlines cuts deeper into domestic flight schedule as country’s COVID-19 cases accumulate

Japan Airlines (JAL) has removed another 4,379 flights from its domestic schedule after the rise in COVID-19 infections affected demand. Read More » The airline cancelled 371 flights from July 20 to July 31 and removed another 4,008 flights from its August schedule.
The capacity cut has reduced the domestic network of the oneworld alliance member to 70% for the month. The operation rate for August is 73%. Last week Japan announced its fourth State of Emergency for Tokyo, to August 22. Japan has recorded about 2,000 new COVID-19 infections a day for most of July, World Health Organisation (WHO) figures reports.
